Impact:

Sol LeWitt's work has been in galleries all over the world, and many times, he wasn't even there to help. How is this possible? The Art of following directions. Watch the video of students, volunteers, and gallery workers installing his retrospective at Mass MoCa.

Project/activities:

Wall drawing 797: Watch video about installing Wall Drawing 797, have the students work with their classmates/ table to create something similar by following a st of directions.
Create a number of vague prompts (ex. draw 6 circles on a page, overlap shapes, connect points, use cool/warm colors), have students create barriers so no one can see their paper. Give the prompts to the class. At the end, see how each students interpretation is different. Explain that you can still be creative while following directions.
